Evangelism

The intentional act of helping someone take one step closer to knowing Christ!

Our evangelism ministry focuses on three key areas:

Equipping Believers

Training our congregation to confidently share their faith, especially with those from different religious or cultural backgrounds.

Creating Invitational Spaces

Cultivating environments where those exploring faith feel welcomed, safe, and respected.

Engaging the Culture

Bringing a Christ-centered perspective to conversations around art, science, business, and social issues.

We also invite individuals or groups to apply for a First Commission Initiative Grant to support creative evangelism projects that help others explore the Christian faith.

The First CommissionGrant

The First Commission Initiative is a movement designed to build missiological bridges between Lake Avenue Church and the diverse communities in our neighborhood. Rooted in Jesus’ First Commission—"Come and See" (John 1:46)—this initiative seeks to fulfill His Final Commission—"Go and Tell" (Matthew 28:19). Our ultimate goal is to introduce Christ to our neighbors of other faiths through authentic friendships, meaningful dialogue, and gracious hospitality.

We invite LAC members and core discipleship groups to develop outreach and evangelism projects that embody the spirit of the First Commission. We encourage collaboration with Christian not-for-profit organizations to maximize impact. Eligible individuals or groups may apply for grants of up to $5,000 by completing the application form.

Sample Projects:

  • Community Dinners for Dialogue – Hosting interfaith meals to foster conversations about faith and build relationships with neighbors from different backgrounds.
  • Alpha Course in Your Neighborhood – Facilitating an Alpha Course in your house or local facilities to introduce your neighbors to the foundations of the Christian faith.
  • Neighborhood Service Projects – Mobilizing volunteers to serve in local schools, shelters, or food pantries while intentionally building relationships and sharing the love of Christ.

If you or your group have a project idea that aligns with the First Commission vision, we encourage you to apply for funding and join us in making Christ known in our neighborhood and beyond.
