What are we going to do about human trafficking? This is a question that Addison asked her parents one day after she received a brochure on human trafficking while shopping at the Santa Anita mall in Arcadia. After reading the brochure, she had many questions about why and how people, including little girls and boys, are subjected to this form of modern-day slavery. Addison was deeply touched and was determined to help in any way possible.
Addison was a member of the LAC family. She grew up at Lake. She attended Sunday school, VBS, Club 45, and middle and high school youth and life groups. She made a personal decision for Christ and declared her commitment to be a Christ follower during a church camp she attended.
Addison’s spiritual gifts were exhortation, mercy, and service to others. She aspired to be a teacher, therapist, or counselor when she grew up. She believed these vocations would give her a chance to use her innate as well as her spiritual gifts. Addison was very easy going and mild mannered, but she felt strongly about speaking up and defending the marginalized or oppressed among us.
While Addison was considering how to help in the fight against human trafficking, several LAC families and individuals were bearing the burden of human trafficking in prayer and looking for an organized way to direct their help and expertise. Even though Addison went home to be with the Lord last June, LAC has started an anti-human trafficking initiative in her memory. We invite you to join us in our fight against this heinous, evil crime.
