Cards for Our Community

Cards and letter writing sometimes seem to be a dying art, but I cannot think of a better way to show the love of Jesus to others in our community than sending a handwritten card. For many years I worked as a nursing aide in senior citizen homes throughout the San Fernando Valley. Many of these senior citizens rarely had visitors, if at all, during the Christmas season though they would often receive a card from a friend or loved one. Their faces would light up when they opened the card, and their excitement was palpable.

My hope for them was that they might receive a card not just at Christmas, but on their birthday, or whenever they were feeling sad and lonely. I’ve spent years praying that Jesus would show me how to start a card ministry and teach me to help be His hands and feet in our community. I am so grateful that He has allowed me to lead the card ministry as part of the Care Ministries Team. I am excited to share the love of God with those who are feeling neglected or need some encouragement.

We will pray for everyone we send a card to. We hope that each person who receives a card feels the love of Jesus and knows they are cherished and cared for.
